Camden Green Party is working to warn local young people that the push to get them to enrol voluntarily for ID cards could have serious consequences – including the fact that once they are on the National Identity Register they’ll be unable to get off it, and could face a £1,000 fine if they fail to subsequently update their details.
Our councillors will be taking a motion to council next week to ensure that the borough does not participate in or contribute to the ID card scheme, except where it would be unlawful not to.
But we need your help. We’ll need the support of councillors from other parties to get this through, so please, if you live in Camden, write to your local councillors – you can find them here – asking them to back the Green motion. Every email will help the campaign – which follows the work of the No 2ID campaign.
